Kristallnacht
1938
Also known as "The Night of Broken Glass," Kristallnacht marks the turning point of Jewish persecution in Nazi-controlled areas. Pogroms were widespread over Germany, annexed Austria, and German-occupied countries. Jewish men were arrested, many of whom were sent to concentration camps and prisons (most were released after a few months.)
