Unprecedented peace agreement between Israel and Egypt brokered by President Jimmy Carter. Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and President Anwar Sadat. Officially named the Framework for Peace in the Middle East, it was the first peace agreement between Israel and an Arab country. The accords laid the founation for the Oslo Agreement which was to be signed more than 10 years later.
