A celebrated Jewish philanthropist who was deeply passionate about Israel's development donating great sums of money towards settling the land. He supported Mishkanot Sha'ananim, the first settlement founded outside of Jerusalem's Old City walls. That area is still known for its "Montefiore Windmill."
