Goodbye kibbutz, snow, sessions, and more! - Kivun

Two family groups of high school grads from 8 different countries have just begun their journey of discovery, personal development, independence, and adventure in Israel!

Stay tuned to this blog as we follow them around Israel as they forge their paths with Kivun!

Kivun is a Co-ed, experiential, 9-month Israel immersion program for the Northern Hemisphere, focusing on personal development, independent living and Jewish growth. Participants live in apartments in Jerusalem, where together with friends they learn about themselves, Judaism and Zionism through an incredible array of experiences such as Kibbutz, Volunteering, Seminars, Professional Internship, Magen David Adom, and IDF experience.

Shalom!

Last week we completed a really fulfilling time on Kibbutz. The group really enjoyed the various jobs as well as the quality time together. Before spending our final Shabbat at Kibbutz, we had a special musical/ educational session with Rabbi Eli Skaist.

Last Thursday, when we finished the last cleanup at Kibbutz we travelled further north to the snow-capped Hermon mountain. It was the first day the site was open for the season and we took full advantage as the snow fell upon us over our fun and freezing day!

This week we had a few seminar days together with the other family group. After a session on Israel with Matthew, on Sunday we went for a light hike in the Jerusalem hills and in the evening we had prep sessions for Marva and Sar-El.

On Monday we had a really fascinating exploration of the Israeli innovation and start-up world and a meaningful and fun visit to Beit Hagalgalim to learn about how Israeli society includes people with various disabilities. Since Monday evening the group has been on chofesh and will return early Motzei Shabbat to clean the flats and prepare for Marva and Sar-El which begin early Sunday morning.

In addition, We are very excited to announce the new season for World Bnei Akiva: Kivun!
