A family group of high school grads from 8 different countries have just begun their journey of discovery, personal development, independence, and adventure in Israel!
Stay tuned to this blog as we follow them around Israel as they forge their paths with Kivun 5783!
Kivun is a Co-ed, experiential, 9-month Israel immersion program for the Northern Hemisphere, focusing on personal development, independent living and Jewish growth. Participants live in apartments in Jerusalem, where together with friends they learn about themselves, Judaism and Zionism through an incredible array of experiences such as Kibbutz, Volunteering, Seminars, Professional Internship, Magen David Adom, and IDF experience. This week was another intense week for both MDA and Marva participants.
We began the week with a Kivun Superbowl party.
Then we celebrated Valentine's day with a gourmet dinner prepared by the participants.
We also visited the Gush Katif museum for Gush Katif day. We discussed the importance of our land and whether or not it was a good decision to give back Gush Katif.
On Wednesday, we joined the Marva participants for their special טקס דיסקיות the Dog tag ceremony.
Watching our participants stand in front of the Kotel at an official IDF ceremony filled us with pride and emotion.
Special shout out to Lily Rudensky (USA) for receiving her tag directly from the company commander and to Iliah Schreb (Germany) for being nominated עמ"פ שמג to translate.
After a delicious Shwarma, we shared our thoughts and feelings about the meaning of serving Am Yisrael.
MDA and Marva participants have the Zchut and the opportunity to serve Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael—a true manifestation of our redemption.
May we have the strength and merit to continue.
This coming week we will celebrate Rosh Chodesh Adar!
As we mentioned, it is unfortunate that we won't all be together for Purim. However, we will do our best to ensure the Kedusha and significance of the Month of Adar and Purim for the entire Kivun family. (See Purim schedule below)
The following week Feb 26th - March 2nd the MDA participants will be volunteering on an IDF base within the "SAREL" program.
More info and updates to follow next week.
Shabbat Shalom!
