URUGUAY
Bnei Akiva Uruguay is the oldest Snif on the South American continent. The Snif activity began in 1933. The location of the Snif changed throughout the years according to the migration of the Jews from community to community.
In our days the Snif takes place in the center of the Yavne community, which includes a shul, a school and a community center. Today the Snif numbers 65 people.
The main activities take place on Shabbatot, however at times there are Sunday activities as well. The main event of the year is the summer camp.
This Snif is specifically special because of its committee of "community work". There are many set activities for the Jewish and non-Jewish community, for example volunteer work in old age homes, and problematic schools.
World Bnei Akiva contact person for Uruguay is Uriel Edery.
