Limmud is a co-ed, experiential, 9-month study and Israel immersion program for the Southern Hemisphere. The program aims to develop 5 circles of “identity” including: Jewish, Zionist, Spiritual, Communal & Personal. Within this framework, participants spend time at Yeshiva/Midrasha, and experience Israel with a wide array of activities and educational modules, as well as a meaningful journey to Poland. Limmud culminates with a 3-month collaborative with our Mechina Olamit, together with Israelis, and participants from the Northern Hemisphere.
Shalom!
This week Mechina started with a picnic dinner in Jerusalem before returning to Migdal Oz after a long free weekend.
On Monday they resumed their regular programming in Mechina and continued to prepare for Dimona. We spoke about the importance of responsibility. The volunteering period and activities in Dimona will be planned and executed almost entirely by the chanichim. They are giving the preparation period their all and the outcome should be incredible! The day ended with a mini "Amazing Race" around the kibbutz organized by the Tzahal committee.
Tuesday we had a safety drill with Matan Hershtz and classes taught by chanichim in the Mechina.
On Wednesday the chanichim continued preparing for Dimona, had a Q&A in halacha in the Beit Midrash, and started to rehearse for the TED evening we will be having next week.
Thursday we had more Dimona time and Joel and Gabi taught the Mechina about Australian Jewry.
Next week, our last week in Mechina, will be spent summarizing and reflecting on our time there. We will also be fine tuning our preparation for Dimona before we head out to enjoy a week of Chanukah vacation.
