Shana Tova from World Bnei Akiva - Kivun!

Two family groups of high school grads from 8 different countries have just begun their journey of discovery, personal development, independence, and adventure in Israel!

Stay tuned to this blog as we follow them around Israel as they forge their paths with Kivun!

Kivun is a Co-ed, experiential, 9-month Israel immersion program for the Northern Hemisphere, focusing on personal development, independent living and Jewish growth. Participants live in apartments in Jerusalem, where together with friends they learn about themselves, Judaism and Zionism through an incredible array of experiences such as Kibbutz, Volunteering, Seminars, Professional Internship, Magen David Adom, and IDF experience.

Shalom!

The period of the chagim was busy and very exciting for the group. For Rosh Hashana we had group tefilot led by the participants and staff with yom tov meals at the flats. During the days leading-up to Yom Kippur we had special programming with seminar days in the old city, guest speakers, volunteering, and a visit to the Land of Israel institute for hands-on learning about the Mitzvot Ha'tluyot Ba'Aretz (land-dependant Mitzvot) and with a special focus on the Shemitta year which began on Rosh Hashana. Yom Kippur was also very special. The group was at the Mechina Olamit campus in Migdal Oz. It was a truly uplifting chag! Over the chofesh period, participants had the chance to explore Israel independantly and to spend time with family and friends. For Simchat Torah, part of the group went to Moreshet, where they were hosted by the community of our Madricha, Chen. It was an amazing opportunity for the group to visit a new place, to meet with Israelis and experience more of the Israeli culture during the chaguim. On Thursday, back from the chofesh, the group went for a tiyul in Nahal Arugot, close to the Dead Sea. They had a great time exploring the beautiful views of the desert. They closed the week going for Shabbat Hachsharot, at Nehalim, where they had the chance to meet participants from other Bnei Akiva programs. There were 280 participants from 16 different countries. It was a wonderful Shabbat, full of singing, energy, and different activities. Finally, the participants started this week with Masa Bereshit - a chronological tour of the Biblical-to-Mishna period around Israel. They got to visit Shilo, The City of David and the Old City in Jerusalem, Masada, and much more.

In addition, We are very excited to announce the new season for World Bnei Akiva: Kivun!
